The aim of the conference is to present and discuss the plant genetic wealth and agricultural tradition of the Aegean islands and to highlight the prehistoric and historic dimension, wealth and the role of the floristic diversity and agrobiodiversity, especially local varieties, issues that are tightly connected with the agricultural landscape, customs, traditions and gastronomy of the Aegean region. In today’s conditions, characterized by trade globalization, the highlight of the diversity of the Aegean region through awareness of the history, development of sustainable agricultural production, and enterprises based on local resources, the preservation of cultural heritage and flora protection, are worthy of being examined and studied in depth.
