Santorini Vinsanto 2004

Appellation: PDO Protected Designation of Origin Santorini
Type: Naturally sweet white wine from sun dried grapes
Vintage Characteristics: The vintage of 2004 is characterized by the ideal weather conditions for the vine cultivation. The frequent light rainfall during spring time, and the mild summer gave healthy grapes. The volume of the grapes produced was the highest of the last 30 years (5500 kg/hectare). We offer the last 900 bottles from the 330.000 that were produced.
Grape Varieties: 85% Assyrtiko, 15% Aidani
Distinctions: It has achieved in total 13 MEDALS at International Wine competitions (Canada, France, Belgium, UK, Greece) including 3 GOLD MEDALS and 2 GRANDE GOLD MEDALS
Vinification: The grapes are spread on terraces under the sun for 6 – 8 days before pressing, fermentation in stainless steel tanks
Year of bottling: 2013
Aging: 3 years in French oak barrels plus 6 years in tanks
Characteristics: Dark brown – bronze color, with intense and complicated aromas of toasted caramel and coffee beans, cocoa, dried figs and honey. The taste is rich, velvet with a balance between sweetness and the characteristic acidity of the variety. Extraordinary and long aftertaste.
Food and wine: An excellent choice for closing a fine dinner or enjoy it with light creamy deserts like panacota, crème brulee.
